The Installation:
Forest Of The Senses
The built environment shapes who belongs in our city. What we build, preserve, or remove determines who feels welcome, safe, and represented — and who does not.
Forest of the Senses responds by reimagining belonging as something embodied, shared, and collectively shaped.
The timber installations present a striking, contemporary interpretation of trees and the forest environment, reimagined through sculptural form. Designed to be experienced spatially, the works invite visitors to move through and around them — creating a sense of immersion within a crafted forest landscape.
Audiences are encouraged not only to observe but to engage physically. By touching the surfaces, visitors experience the textures of the natural materials and the craftsmanship behind each piece, fostering a deeper, more tactile connection to the work.
This is Sensory Artistry — where each collaborating partner contributes a different sense to the whole:
Sight – Giles Miller Studio
Striking sculptural timber forms that shift and reveal themselves as you move through the space.
Touch — Abodo & Glenalmond
Precision-machined Abodo timber, responsibly sourced and crafted to invite physical connection. Studies show that exposure to natural textures can lower cortisol levels, reduce blood pressure, and support nervous system regulation.
Sound — MindFidelity
A bespoke atmospheric soundscape that echoes the rhythms and tonal qualities of a forest — from subtle natural sounds to more abstract sonic layers, adding depth and presence to the environment.
Scent — Dulcie
A fragrance dimension that deepens the emotional connection to the space, enriching the sensory journey through smell.
Taste
Woodland-inspired food and drink that extends the experience into taste, blurring the boundaries between art, nature, and embodied encounter.
Together, these elements create a holistic, multi-sensory environment that invites reflection, exploration, and heightened sensory awareness.
This installation is hosted by Australian-Indonesian furniture brand Reddie, in its new 2,000 sqft showroom. The event is an opportunity to be one of the first to visit this inspirational showroom, Clerkenwell's newest design destination.

The Conversation:
Who Do We Design For?
Alongside the installation, a dedicated case study talk explores the full lifecycle of Forest of the Senses — from the origin of the timber and material sourcing through to conceptual development and fabrication. This offers guests a deeper understanding of the design intent, craftsmanship, and processes behind the work.
The evening invites practitioners to ask: who is missing from the table — and how can everyday material decisions remove barriers rather than reinforce them?
The evening covers:
– The conceptual vision behind Forest of the Senses and Giles Miller Studio's approach to Sensory Artistry
– The fabrication story — from responsibly sourced Abodo timber to precision machining by Glenalmond
– How material provenance, circularity, and specification choices connect to environmental justice and long-term resilience
– Collaboration across design, supply, and fabrication — and what it makes possible
– Practical frameworks for specifying materials that perform for people and planet
– What it means to design not just beautifully, but responsibly
